Authorities looking for missing Brown County man

Authorities in Brown County are looking for a missing Nashville man. A Silver Alert has been issued for 76-year-old Joseph Carmer. Authorities say Carmer wandered away from the 2900 block of Mt. Liberty Road. He is believed to be in extreme danger and may require medical assistance.

Carmer is a white male, 5 feet 9 inches tall, 183 pounds, brown/gray hair with blue eyes, last seen wearing a black sweatshirt, blue jeans, black shoes, and has a “Mom” tattoo on his right forearm.

If you have any information on Carmer’s whereabouts, you should call the Brown County Sheriff’s Department at (812) 988-6655 or 911.

Authorities looking for for missing person near Edinburgh

7:45 p.m. UPDATE: The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office is currently assisting the Edinburgh Police and Fire Department at State Road 252 and River Road with a person in the water at the dam. High water is restricting dive teams from Johnson County, Shelby County Sheriff, Department of Natural Resources, Edinburgh Police and Fire Department, Columbus Fire Department and the Franklin Fire Department.

We will have more information as it becomes available.

High water impacting some roads

1/24 4:30 p.m. Update

Bartholomew County emergency officials are warning of high water on some local roads.

That includes:

  • 750 S/E SR58 – passable at this time
  • 650 S/E SR58 has signs out already
  • N DELLASBURG RD/E BASE RD
  • South Gladstone (south of the bridge) CLOSED
  • 400 N east of US 31 – Closed
  • 800 S between SR 11 and US 31 – Closed
  • 150 E between 300 S and Southern Crossing
  •  930 S high water

Authorities urge you to heed all traffic warnings and signs. Do not try to drive through flooded roads.
