Tonight, local police agencies and the Columbus African American Pastor’s Association will be holding the first of what they hope will be quarterly dialogues on race relations in the community.
Sgt. Matt Harris, spokesman for the Columbus Police Department, said tonight’s event grew out of an August event.
Pastor David Bosley is pastor at Dayspring Church and a chaplain with the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department. He says the goal is to advance Columbus into becoming a more welcoming community, Bosley said.
Bosley said tonight’s session is also expected to have a presentation by Indiana State Police Trooper Reuben Marte on how to act if you are stopped by police.
Tonight’s meeting will be from 6 to 9 p.m. at Columbus City Hall. You are invited to attend and to take part.
