Duke aid to help develop Bartholomew industrial site

Duke Energy is planning to help make a site in Bartholomew County ready for development through its Site Readiness Program.

The power company announced this week that a 63-acre site near Edinburgh would be made ready for development through the program, which identifies, evaluates and improves sites for industrial development.

The company presented a $10,000 check this week to the Greater Columbus Economic Development Corp. to help improve the site on the corner of U.S. 31 and County Road 800N. That’s about a mile north of the Interstate 65 interchange.

According to Duke, site-selection consultant McCallum Sweeney Consulting has evaluated the parcel and made recommendations, which were presented to the development group this week.

The $10,000 would to to implement the site consultant’s recommendations.

“McCallum Sweeney Consulting advises companies all across the nation on where to find the best sites. Gaining their evaluation of our site is of great benefit to us,” said Jason Hester, president of the Greater Columbus Economic Development Corporation. “As such, we are grateful for Duke Energy’s continued commitment to our community’s efforts to build and strengthen our local and regional economy through the Site Readiness Program.”
