Columbus police say that a vehicle stop turned into a drug dealing arrest last night on Central Avenue.

47-year-old David W. Hill of Columbus is facing charges of dealing methamphetamine, along with possessing meth, marijuana and a controlled substance and maintaining a common nuisance.

Police saw Hill driving in the 2600 block of Central Avenue at about 8 p.m. Tuesday night and recognized that he was wanted on outstanding warrants. They stopped the car and after a police dog alerted to the smell of narcotics inside, a search revealed a bag with marijuana, five bags of methamphetamine along with prescription medications and about $2,800 in cash, says Lt. Matt Harris, spokesman for the city police.

Hill was wanted on warrants out of Lawrence and Jackson counties, Harris says.
