Columbus parks kick off summer programs Friday

Three Columbus parks will be celebrating upgraded playground facilities tomorrow with summer launch parties.

The Race2Play events will be going on at Ninth Street, Morningside and Pence Place parks from 4 to 6 p.m. Four years ago, the city parks partnered with Tony Stewart’s Foundation, among others, to rehabilitate aging equipment at the three parks.

Stacy Findley with the Columbus Park Foundation explains that Race2Play is meant  to encourage people to go outside and to get children playing.

You can stop by the parks for a hot dog, music and activities.

Activities will also include the planting of the community gardens.
